Jávea (Xàbia)
When you consider that the World Health Organization (WHO) has declared the climate of the Costa Blanca as one of the healthiest in the world, it is not surprising that half of the inhabitants of Jávea and two thirds of the tourists are foreigners.
The twenty kilometers long coastline, which consists of thirteen different bays and beaches, is varied enough to please everyone. In addition, La Granadella, which is located in the Granadella Forest Park, is considered one of the most beautiful beaches in Spain thanks to its impressive surroundings. Do you decide to visit this beach? Please note that it is a pebble beach with limited parking. Those who like to dig in their feet in the warm, soft sand, better go elsewhere.
Are you not sure where else to go? La Barraca (Portitxol) and La Caleta (Cala Blanca) are also immensely popular. Due to the clear water and small pebble beaches, these coves are ideal for snorkeling. Do you go to the beach to sunbathe? L’Arenal is one of the few sandy beaches in the city. Although it is also the most touristic and commercial beach thanks to its facilities and parking, it is extremely suitable for families with (small) children and people with reduced mobility.
Do you prefer to go hike? The most complete (and challenging) route through the Montgó National Park starts at the Levante embankment next to the Nautical Club of Xàbia. This twenty kilometer long route takes seven to eight hours and takes you, among other things, to the top of the Montgó. Are you up for the challenge? The PR CV 355 shows you the way. Make sure you avoid the heat as much as possible.
Shopping
The market takes place every Thursday from 08:00 to 14:00 in Plaça de la Constitució. Would you rather visit the indoor Mercado de Abastas in the center? On weekdays it is open from 08:00 to 14:00 and 17:00 to 20:00 and on Saturdays from 08:00 to 15:00.
Food and drinks
In Jávea, fish and rice play the main role, with the paella being the most beloved dish. Although the authentic Valencian recipe contains beans, chicken and/or rabbit, the variant with fish and seafood is very popular on the Costa Blanca.
